SPECIAL TREAT MAC AND CHEESE

1 Box of any brand of Macaroni and Cheese

1/3 cup of grated carrots

1/3 cup of chopped broccoli

½ cup of Pellets

½ cup of millet

  • Make the macaroni and cheese according to the instructions on the box.
  • Add the pellets, grated carrots and chopped broccoli.
  • Sprinkle the millet on top of the macaroni and cheese after you place the mixture into your bird’s dish.
  • Make sure you mix it well so the birds have to hunt for their “special treats”.
  • For larger birds you can use other kinds of nuts like sunflower seeds or pistachio nuts and pine nuts.

Ok, so I was confused at the beginning. I thought it was a macaroni recipe for people not birds. Then I saw the words millet and pellets and started considering this was not for people. Once you said putting it in the bird's dish I had a light go on. LOL Anyway, great recipes for our bird friends. I am a bird watcher so I appreciate the ideas. thanks:)

Too funny! That is why this is entitled 'Favorite recipes for your parrot'. I am glad that the light went on. :) My kids have accidentally eaten things that I have cooked for my parrots. Can't say that they enjoyed them..... :)

LOL - I made a recipe similar to one of yours (bought it from the pet store) and saved the remainder in a Tupperware container in the fridge. Later that day, I noticed it was gone - ? My oldest girl came home for lunch and ate it thinking it was a leftover dish! Apparently it wasn't harmful to her but I watched her for a while to make sure she didn't start chirping:-)
